HERE- NOW / Thursday the 10th – Sunday the 13th October
As part of the Auckland wide Heritage Festival, The University of Auckland’s School of Architecture and Planning and Auckland Council are collaborating on the event Here Now: Re-imagining New Lynn.
For this event 120 second year architecture students will design and fabricate installations to activate vacant retail space within New Lynn. The installations will recall this suburb’s rich cultural, social and industrial heritage as well as imagining its future.
Over four days in October, from Thursday the 10th to Sunday the 13th, visitors are invited to self-navigate a trail from the New Lynn Station to the Titirangi Road intersection, discovering the students’ imaginative and innovative large-scale installations. With the use of sound, light, projection, social media and the wider Auckland train network the Here-now event will activate the centre of New Lynn, capturing the public’s imagination and bringing this area to life.
