2015 Australasian Student Architecture Congress – People
Architecture is about people; from the moment we are born into a room, each of us will have a distinct and personal relationship with the space around us. It is in architecture that we work and rest, it’s where we fall in love, where we protest; architecture changes behaviour, it unites and divides, provides shelter and inspiration.
Amidst a backdrop of expanding populations, urban migration and tightening purse strings; we’re going on a journey around the city as we seek to investigate questions of spatial relations, architectural anthropology, humanitarian architecture, advocacy and intervention.
We have a range of speakers from across four continents including Australia. Each of these is positioned to contribute a unique perspective around the theme of people through the varied lenses of their own particular practice.
Speakers include:
• John Gollings, Melbourne
• Laurent Gutierrez, Hong Kong
• Phil Harris and Adrian Welke, Adelaide/Perth
• Lucy Humphrey, Sydney
• Steve Larkin, Ireland
• Sandra Manninger, USA
• Paul Memmott, Brisbane
• Jeremy McLeod, Melbourne
• Paul Pholeros, Sydney
• Anna Rubbo, USA
• Julie Stout, New Zealand
• Veronika Valk, Estonia
• Tone Wheeler, Melbourne
Plus more speakers to be announced shortly!
The Congress is arguably a once in a life time opportunity that every upcoming Architect needs to experience. With People as the theme, the Congress is shaping up to be an event not to be missed.
